Image result for Driver licenses delayed for thousands after DMV computer errorSAN DIEGO (KUSI)- California Republicans are demanding a top to bottom audit of the Department of Motor Vehicles.

This comes after election officials announced an investigation into the DMV’s Motor Voter Program.

It allegedly mishandled voter registration that could have influenced election results.

Also, the DMV is catching heat after a report that its Driver License Department botched the roll-out of an early renewal program.

This apparently left tens of thousands of drivers without new licenses even after paying their fees.

The DMV confirmed a computer programming error caused the delay.

Customers impacted paid their renewal fee either online of by mail between November of 2018 to January 2019.

The DMV says the program has since been updated.
