The food and drugs control department had recovered several essential requirements for making synthetic milk from the six premises of Jai Ambey Dairy.
The Morena police in Madhya Pradesh on Tuesday registered a case under the National Security Act against a dairy owner for allegedly making and selling synthetic milk.
The accused identified as Mahesh Chand Sharma is the owner of the Jai Ambey Dairy that has six outlets in and around Morena.
According to the police, the premises of Jai Ambey Dairy was raided by food and drugs control department of the state government on August 14 and the samples collected were found to be spurious.
The food and drugs control department had also recovered a large amount of refined oil, glucose and other essential requirements for making synthetic milk from the six premises of Jai Ambey Dairy.
The food and drugs control department had forwarded the complaint to the police department and during investigations it was found that the dairy did not have any government licence to run the business.
The police during its investigations found that Mahesh Chand Sharma was a habitual offender and that his premises were raided in the past as well.
“He [Mahesh Chand Sharma] has a record of committing such crimes and several cases are pending against him. He has also been fined in a similar case in the past,” District Superintendent of Police Asit Yadav said.
“The action under the National Security Act has been taken after reasonable consideration. The accused is a habitual offender and is endangering the lives of people. The matter was put up before the district magistrate and after his approval a case has been registered,” Asit Yadav said.
The accused has been arrested and was presented in court on Tuesday from where he has been remanded to 14 days in judicial custody.
It may be recalled that the state government has directed all district SPs and collectors to take stern action possible against such offendors.
Several dairy owners who were involved in making syntehetic milk have been caught in the Gwalior Chambal region during the past two weeks.
The Morena district administration claimed that a case under the NSA has been booked to send a strong message to all such operatives.
